Morbark’s newest horizontal grinder, the 6400XT Wood Hog, provides high production and superior transportability. The new model incorporates many of the next-generation features found in the smaller 3400XT, which Morbark introduced last year.
Morbark focused on creating a streamlined, high production grinder that is transportable and economically viable, noted Jesse Garber, the Environmental Division’s wood products sales specialist. “The 6400XT has the larger 6600 grinding rotor integrated into the 4600XL machine platform. Morbark didn’t just increase production; they increased usability and ease of accessibility in almost everything.”
The 6400XT weighs under 96,500 pounds and is less than 11-feet-6-inches wide with the standard undercarriage with double grousers. Those dimensions meet stringent
logistics restrictions.
For productivity, the infeed bed is 24 inches longer than on previous models in the 1,000-plus horsepower range. Sloped sides on the infeed improve operator sight lines and make it easier to load the grinder efficiently.
For applications that involve dirty material, such as land-clearing, the infeed chain return floor is removable, allowing excess material to fall away. That feature minimizes wear on the floor, bed chain and inserts.
Operators and mechanics will find it easier to perform daily maintenance, thanks to several features that improve access. For example:
• The platform between the hood and engine has been extended, resulting in a 31.5-inch wide space for changing grates or accessing the diesel engine.
• A fixed, work platform provides better access and safety for grate and hammermill maintenance.
• The oil and hydraulic filters are grouped together.
• An independent hammermill drive tensioning system makes adjustments easier.
The new 6400XT is available with a choice of two standard Tier 4 Final engines, the 1,050-hp Caterpillar C27 or the 1,200-hp Cat C32. All units come with Morbark’s exclusive driveline protection system, an externally adjustable, break-away torque limiter. The Morbark Integrated Control System, which maximizes production and engine efficiency, is also standard.
Whether you need a grinder for processing wood, C&D waste or asphalt shingles, the Morbark Wood Hog is the proven choice for high production, dependability and transportability.
